OTTAWA – For the second time in four years Lancer Soccer head coach Steve Hart will represent the University of Windsor on the international stage as a member of the Canadian national team.
 
Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) announced Thursday the coaching staffs that will lead Canada in soccer at the 2015 Summer Universiade in South Korea. Coach Hart was named as an assistant coach with the Canadian men's squad.
 
The 28th world university summer games are set for July 3 to 14 in Gwangju, which was one of the host cities for the 2002 FIFA World Cup.
 
Hart will work with Keith Mason and Don Ferguson, both from the University of Guelph, who will act as Team Canada head coach and team leader, respectively. Rounding out the staff as an assistant coach will be Cam Leverman from MacEwan University.
 
Hart will work with his OUA colleague Mason at the FISU Games for the second time in four years. The Windsor mentor was head coach of the Canadian entry in 2011.
 
"I'm really excited and proud to have been chosen to be part of the FISU staff for South Korea in 2015. This is a huge honour coaching at this level," said Hart. "As the Canadian head coach in China in 2011 I learned a lot, so I hope the experience will help develop the team."
 
This will be the third tour of duty at the world university games for Mason, who is in his 15^th season leading the Guelph Gryphons. He was general manager of the men's contingent in 2003, when the Summer Universiade were first staged in South Korea (Daegu), and assistant coach in 2011 in China.
 
"Working with Coach Keith Mason is always a privilege as he brings a wealth of experience to this coaching squad, as this is his third Summer Universiade," Hart continued. "We will be working hard to identify the strongest CIS athletes who are ready to compete at the international level and to prepare them for Korea next summer. It is a challenge I am excited to get started."
 
Coach Hart is the second Lancer head coach to be named to the Canadian roster for the 2015 Universiade. Women's Hockey head coach Jim Hunter was named an assistant coach for the Canadian women's team for the Winter Universiade that will take place this coming January in Spain.
