Miah-Marie Langlois has captured two OUA west division women's basketball major awards as announced by the OUA Wednesday.
Jessica Clemencon and
Korissa Williams were also named OUA west division all-stars, while
Caitlyn Longmuir was named to the all-rookie team.
For the second year in a row Langlois is the OUA West Defensive Player of the Year. The fourth-year guard out of Windsor, Ont. earned the award for her tenacity on defense, and the strength of a league high 3.2 steals per game and 6.3 rebounds per outing while being responsible for defending the opponents' top guard.
In addition to her defensive game, she also averaged 12.0 points per game and finished second in the CIS and first in the OUA with 6.0 assists per game. This year also marks her third straight year as a west division all-star after being named to the first team last year, and the second team in 2010-11.
Langlois is also the 2012-13 recipient of the West Division's Joy Bellinger Award presented annually to a female student-athlete in recognition of outstanding service to the sport and to the advancement of university athletics.
Over and above her time on the court, she has been able to maintain an A-average in the Faculty of Business and Economics, while volunteering her time over the past six years with the Windsor Valiants house league basketball program as well as speaking on respect and leadership at local schools. Langlois is also a leader in the community involvement of the Lancers women's basketball team, aiding in the organization of community events including read-a-thons, basketball clinics and other charitable events.
Clemencon (St-Rambert, France), a two-time OUA and CIS Player of the Year, becomes a first team all-star for a remarkable fourth time in as many years. Finishing second in the OUA scoring race with 17.9 ppg, Clemencon was a key piece of the Lancer team that went 21-0 on the season. The six-foot-three forward shot 57 per cent from the floor, the highest among qualifying athletes, and added 7.3 rebounds per game.
After being named to the all-rookie team in 2010-11, guard
Korissa Williams (Windsor, Ont.) becomes an all-star for the first time, receiving second team honours on the strength of 15.1 point, 5.2 rebound, 2.8 assist season where she shot an impressive 52% from the floor.
Longmuir (Kingsville, Ont.) was the top rookie on the Lancer squad this year. The five-foot-six guard averaged 3.0 points per game, and her smart play allowed her role to increase late in the season
