The Lancers, who claimed their first Bronze Baby Trophy in program history two years ago on home court and were crowned again last season in Calgary, earned the top seed for the 2013 national championship at the University of Regina, March 15-17.
The Final 8 seeding was announced on Sunday with the Lancers earning No. 4 status following a 21-0 regular season and a 3-0 playoff run that capped off with them claiming the OUA championship title for the fourth time in five years.
The Lancers will face the Ottawa Gee Gees in the first quarter-final on Friday afternoon. Tip-off for that game is scheduled for 1pm Central time. The Gee Gees earned the wild card berth from the committee comprised of coaches from the four CIS conferences.
Also competing for the Bronze Baby Trophy later this week will be the No. 2 Saint Mary's Huskies (AUS Champions), No. 3 Regina Cougars (Canada West Champions/hosts), No.4 Carleton Ravens (OUA finalists), No. 5 Calgary Dinos (Canada West Finalists), No. 6 McGill Marlets (RSEQ Champions), No. 7 Fraser Valley Cascades (Canada West bronze medalists), and No. 8 Ottawa Gee Gees (at-large berth).
The Score has live coverage of next Sunday's gold-medal final at 4 p.m. Central Time, while all 11 games from the tournament will also be webcast live on www.CIS-SIC.tv
