Lancer Football standout Shea Pierre drafted by CFL's Toronto Argonauts

Lancer Football defensive back Shea Pierre was selected by the Toronto Argonauts in yesterday's Canadian Football League's (CFL) annual entry draft.

The Mississauga native and graduate of Our Lady of Mount Carmel High School was taken in the sixth round by his hometown Argonauts.

"This is amazing," commented the 6-foot, 190-pount defensive back. "I wasn't sure if it was going to happen or not and then to see my name on the screen was so exciting."

The newest Argo draft pick still lives in Mississauga and is only 10 minutes away from the Argonaut practice facility.

"I really enjoyed my interview with the team during evaluation camp and I'm thrilled to get a chance to play for my hometown team," added Pierre. "I actually train with Andre Durie and he's helping me get better. I'm excited to call him a teammate."

Toronto Argonaut General Manager Jim Barker was impressed with Pierre.

"He offers us Canadian depth at the defensive back position," commented Barker. "He runs well, is solid in coverage, has a strong work ethic and can also play special teams."

Lancer Football Head Coach Joe D'Amore is proud to have one of his players get drafted into the CFL.

"We are really excited to see Shea get drafted by the Argos," commented Coach D'Amore. "He has worked extremely hard at developing his craft and I know he is thrilled to get picked by his hometown team. We wish Shea all the best going forward."
