Head Coach Chantal Vallée is pleased to announce the commitment of local star Kim Moroun to the Women's Basketball program for the 2012-13 season.

Moroun, a native of Belle River, Ontario, is a WECSSAA first team all-star with Belle River District High School, and captained the Nobles to a WECSSAA AAA silver medal this past season.

As one of the top athletes coming out of Essex County this year, Moroun was Belle River's female athlete of the year for four straight years, and was the team MVP for the Belle River volleyball and basketball teams for three straight seasons.

Vallée is very pleased to be adding an athlete of Moroun's character and athletic ability to the Lancers already strong roster. “I am thrilled to add a talented, athletic player like Kim to our program,” said Vallée. “She has athletic abilities beyond what we usually see in most people, and once she is refined and learns the game at this level, she will become one of the prime women's basketball player in this country.”

Also a starter with the Windsor Valiants basketball program, Moroun liked the idea of staying home and playing in front of her home town. “The support of the fans in Windsor is tremendous, and playing in front of my family and friends every day would be unbelievable,” said Moroun.

Windsor also offered the education program she was interested in. “The Kinesiology program is exactly what I wanted, so Windsor was the perfect fit.”

An all around athlete, Moroun was also a WECSSAA first team all-star in volleyball, an OFSAA champion in Badminton, and a SWOSSAA finalist with the senior girls soccer team

Moroun is the second local stand-out to commit to the Lancers for the 2012-13 season. She will join St. Anne's star Andrea Kiss who committed to the Blue & Gold last month.
