The Windsor Lancer track & field team had another outstanding weekend of competition. This past weekend, the Lancers captured 10 gold medals at the Findlay Invitational at the University of Findlay-Ohio.
Windsor was led by
Matt Walters who set a new fieldhouse record, a new meet record, and qualified for the national championships in the men's mile. Walters finished the race in an impressive time of 4:05.86.
Fraser Kegel finished the 1000m in 2:28.35 to claim first, while the 4x800m relay team of Mitch Tome, Nick Falk, Ben Proctor, and
Paul LaMarra placed first in their race with a time of 7:47.71.
In the field events,
Andrew Dandie grabbed gold in the long jump with a leap of 6.84m, while
Mat West earned 3,525 points in the pentathlon for a first place finish.
On the women's side, the 4x800m relay team of
Andrina Slegers, Meaghan Marton, Samantha Kellam,a nd
Heather Kurpe also finished first with a time of 9:19.12, while Kellam also finished first in the 1000m with a time of 2:59.12.
In the women's pole vault, Jenn Tomayer vaulted to first with a height of 3.40m, while
Jackie Anderson jumped 11.12m in the triple jump, and
Kelly Morrison finished the pentathlon with 3,397 points to finish first overall.
The Lancers also had 12 silver medallists, including Shaelynn McLaughlin who qualified for the CIS Championships in the shot put with a throw of 13.82m.

The Lancers will now split up and head to three different locations next weekend. The Lancers will participate in meets at the University of Manitoba, the University of Notre Dame and York University. Stay tuned to
