Lancers battle North Florida in a pair of pre-season games on the weekend

Newcomer Jahmal McQueen had an impressive debut for the Lancers as he combined for 24 points and 21 rebounds in the pair of games against North Florida.
The Windsor Lancers Men's Basketball team hosted their first two exhibition games of the summer series this past weekend against the University of North Florida.
  
The Lancers and Ospreys hosted two exciting contests over the weekend with the visitors earning a game-one 75-63 victory and a game-two 73-64 win.

The weekend games were the debut for plenty of new faces for Lancers who showed a lot of potential. On Saturday, Windsor battled back from a ten-point deficit to cut the lead to 1 with nine minutes remaining before the Ospreys pulled away for the 75-63 win.

Windsor's late surge came from an impressive performance from newcomer Jahmal McQueen, who's energy and 13 second half points helped bring the home team all the way back.
 
The Lancers missed the inside presence of Lien Phillip, who is currently away representing Canada at the World University Games, but Evan Matthews helped pick up the slack in the paint with 12 points.
 
McQueen led the Lancers with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while veteran Enrico Diloreto had 11 points and point guard Josh Collins contributed 9 points and 9 assists.
 
Parker Smith led the way for the Ospreys with 18 points while Charles McRoy chipped in 14 points. ,
 
In game two on Sunday, both teams battled hard again as North Florida earned their second victory in as many days with a 73-64 win.

UNF got out to a 10-point first half lead before Lancer guard Enrico Diloreto helped the Lancers get back into it with 15 first half points.
 
Windsor was able to take a five point lead early in the second half before the Ospreys regained control with just over twelve minutes remaining.
 
The Lancers would battle back again as a pair of Josh Collins free throws tied the game at 61-61 with 3:45 remaining. However, North Florida then went on a 9-0 run over the next 1:18 to go up 70-61 with just over a minute to play. The visitors held of the Lancers to earn the nine point win.
 
Jahmal McQueen again had a strong performance in the post with 8 points and 11 rebounds. First year Lancer Adem Said made three big 3-pointers down the stretch, while Josh Collins finished with 6 assists.
 
Windsor will now host the Oakland University Grizzlies next weekend for a pair of games. Game one will tip-off on Saturday August 13th at 2:00pm, and then on Sunday August 14th at 4:00pm at the St. Denis Centre.

Admission is $5 general admission and tickets can be purchased at the gate.
