Lancers & Beach Grove Country Club team up to restore Lancer Golf Program

Gord Grace, Director of Athletics at the University of Windsor is pleased to announce an exciting new partnership with the Beach Grove Golf and Country Club to bring the Lancer Golf Program back into OUA competition this fall.
The special partnership initiative means that the university’s golf program will compete in the OUA next season after a one-year absence due to university wide budget cutbacks.
Ryan Hughes, CPGA Director of Golf at Beach Grove will serve as the team’s new head coach with additional organizational support coming from the golf club.
Beach Grove members Peter Guthrie and Kenny Greenwood will sever as coaching assistants. The Lancer Golf program will be self funded and will feature both men’s and women’s student-athletes.
Gord Grace, Director of Athletics and Recreational Services believes this new partnership with Beach Grove will ensure a well structured, competitive golf program that will have a strong presence in the community as well as on campus.
“We are excited to announce our new partnership with Beach Grove Golf and Country Club to restore the Lancer Golf program back to active status,” commented Grace. The leadership from Ryan Hughes and his team will help strengthen Lancer Golf moving forward and will help us ensure that our athletes have an outstanding varsity golf experience here at the University of Windsor.”
Lancer Golf Head Coach Ryan Hughes is excited to have the chance to run the varsity program this fall.
“I am thrilled to join forces with the University of Windsor’s Department of Athletics to help bring back the Lancer Golf program for next year,” commented Hughes. “We believe we’ll have a strong foundation for Lancer Golf here at Beach Grove and it’s our intention to build an elite program that will once again challenge for OUA provincial championship golf titles in the near future.”
Funding for the program is already under way. Jamieson Laboratories has offered gold level support for the program.
